MindRight works with software developers from Africa - Tunga

Dedicated developers for MindRight

The Client: MindRight

MindRight is a US based technology company. Its mission is to advance health equity by making mental health care radically accessible. And inclusive of communities of color and low-income families. It partners with healthcare payers and providers to offer culturally-responsive mental health coaching over text message. Their members receive a personal team of coaches who proactively support them 7 days/week, 365 days/year. In August 2020, less than a year after launching, MindRight raised more than $1 million in venture-capital funding.

The Challenge for MindRight

Being a young company on the US east coast, MindRight was looking to build a team of high quality software engineers. Further, it was important that these engineers could commit to getting their platform to the next phase. However, the local labor market for software specialists is very tight. But then they found Tunga on Google and decided to give it a try.

The Solution

MindRight’s web platform was built using MEAN stack (MongoDB, Express.js, Angular and Node.js). Meanwhile, the messaging runs on Twilio. Firstly, in January 2020, Tunga onboarded a first fulltime developer for MindRight. After that, in the summer of 2020 a second fulltime developer.

Both developers work from Nigeria. And they have adjusted work hours to make sure there is overlap with the US team. Meanwhile they are still able to maintain a normal daily rythm.

Subsequently, the developers became an integral part of the core team. That is to say, the work is coordinated through the usual tools (Github, etc). And of course through regular meetings with MindRight’s (US based) management. As it would in any other organization.

Part-time dedicated developer for Provolve IT

The core business of Provolve IT is to help companies repackage, virtualize, migrate and deploy their critical software applications. Next to providing the human resources to do so, they have developed a product to help system managers to save a lot of time: Easy Software Deployment. Since 2018 Tunga’s Amos Walugembe is working on this.

Dedicated team for rb2

rb2 wanted to diversify their developer pool into other geographical areas. They were enthusiastic about Africa, because there is still a lot of talent available, it is roughly in the same timezone as The Netherlands and in many countries English is the official language. They chose to work with Tunga to ensure quality and continuity.

Managed team for Niluk

Niluk founder Elena Köstler was in the middle of a project when her lead developer left the company. She turned to Tunga to take over the project and to bring it to a good end within scope and deadline. Niluk app aims to combat loneliness and works on both Android and iOS.
