The Challenge: Building a 24/7 mental health platform post-funding

MindRight, a US-based startup providing culturally responsive mental health coaching to youth and young adults, raised $1 million in venture capital funding in August 2020. The COVID-19 pandemic had accelerated demand for virtual mental health support, and MindRight needed a robust technical team to build out their platform quickly.

Their primary goal was to build a team of high-quality software engineers committed to taking the company to the next phase — developers who could provide a continuous service improving and maintaining their platforms.

The Solution: Three MEAN stack developers from Nigeria

Tunga provided three full-time developers from Nigeria proficient in MongoDB, Express, Angular, Node.js, JavaScript, and TypeScript. MindRight found Tunga through a simple Google search, and the partnership began.

All three developers reside in Nigeria, and Tunga worked with MindRight to ensure a smooth overlap of work hours with the New York time zone. As MindRight evolved, Tunga adapted the team to better match their emerging technical direction — demonstrating the value of adaptability in long-term partnerships.

The Result: A mental health platform accessible via text message

Today MindRight can make mental health support accessible to people via text message. The development team is in sync with the administrative team enough to be involved in planning and implementing new features while maintaining existing applications. The partnership has lasted four-plus years.
