Tunga's Terms and Pricing: Rate, Notice, Absence and Replacement
Before talking to a staffing partner, most companies want to know two things: what it costs, and how easy it is to stop. Tunga charges an hourly rate of €26-37, invoiced monthly on the hours actually worked, so holidays and sick days are not invoiced. In the first 4 weeks either side can end an engagement at one working day's notice, and after that with 4 weeks' notice. A replacement costs nothing extra, and you have one contract, with Tunga. If you would rather employ a professional yourself, that is possible too.
What the hourly rate covers
The rate is the only cost: there is no setup, search or replacement fee. It covers the professional's time and everything Tunga does around it:
- Finding and vetting candidates, and a shortlist you choose from.
- The contract with the professional, payments and compliance, in their own country.
- Onboarding, with a delivery manager who works alongside you in the first weeks.
- Check-ins with you and the professional, at least once a month.
- Replacement when someone leaves or it isn't working, at no extra cost and with no time limit.
How the rate is set and invoiced
- €26-37 per hour, depending on the role and the professional's experience.
- Invoiced monthly on the hours actually worked, with a payment term of 10 working days.
- Full-time or part-time. You can start with one person, and with fewer than 40 hours a week.
Notice: how you start and how you stop
- First 4 weeks: you or Tunga can end the engagement at one working day's notice. That makes the start a real trial.
- After that: 4 weeks' notice, for both sides.
Tunga does not place someone for a task of a few weeks: engagements are meant to run for months or longer, because that is where finding, vetting and onboarding someone pays off. Within that, you are not tied to a long contract. If your plans change, for example because AI changes how many people your team needs, 4 weeks' notice is enough.
Holidays, sickness and absence
The professionals are independent freelancers contracted by Tunga and work under the standards of their own country. You pay for hours worked, so days off and sick days are not invoiced. When an absence lasts longer, Tunga handles it with the professional and arranges cover so your work continues.
Hiring a professional yourself
If you want to employ a professional directly, you can: either for a one-time recruitment fee at the start, or by taking over someone you have worked with through Tunga after a period. Very few clients choose this, because employing someone means taking the staffing side back: the employment contract, compliance, absence, and starting over when they leave.
It does happen. Cinnamon Toast worked with Kelly through Tunga from October 2021 and hired him directly in July 2024.
The contract
You sign one client agreement with Tunga, plus a proposal for each engagement that names the professional, the rate and the start date. The professional works in your team under your direction; Tunga is not their employer and neither are you. The agreement is a starting point and can be adjusted to your situation.
Where Tunga fits
Tunga takes the staffing side off the plate of companies that need digital professionals: software engineers, AI operators, product managers and other digital roles, from across Africa. The client directs the work. Tunga handles finding and vetting, contracts, payments and compliance, onboarding, keeping people, and replacing them when someone leaves or it isn't working. The professionals are independent freelancers contracted by Tunga and work remotely from their own country; the client has one contract, with Tunga, and a delivery manager who checks in with both sides. In 2025, about 1 in 56 placements ended because the professional left for another job. Founded in 2015; 3,500 professionals across 38 African countries and 300+ client companies, as of September 2026.
Tunga is not the right fit when the role has to be on site, when the work means talking to your clients in a language other than English or French, or when saving on cost is the main reason you're looking.
