Tech Impact Academy currently provides four learning tracks from which you can select one to study within the four months of training. The training is designed around a hands-on, practice-based model that helps you to work on real-life projects and gets you ready for the workplace.
Fullstack web development basics, covering HTML, CSS, JavaScript with NodeJS for server work, and basic MySQL database handling.
Explores popular and frontend frameworks. ReactJS with Bootstrap and Vue3 with TailwindCSS, allocating 7 weeks to each pair. Two weeks for the final assignment.
Focused on NodeJS and ExpressJS. One or two weeks of front-end (React, Vue). Databases, API’s. Relational and non-relational databases.
Emphasizing structured frontend-backend communication. It includes a Python basics review and explores frameworks like Django and possibly FastAPI.
Yes! Jobs are shared via our private Slack group. Being an active member of the community allows you to receive and apply opportunities that suit you.
When logged into work.tunga.io, click the "Apply" button. Our Talent team will review your profile and test results and may ask you to complete additional tests to determine if you are a good fit for the opportunity. If your application is successful, you may be introduced to the client for an interview. If the client selects you, our Sales team will assist you in preparing for the opportunity.
Ensure your profile is fully updated. If you're having difficulty finding your first job on the Tunga platform, don't worry. You can contact our Talent team for personalized feedback and tips to help you succeed.
Completing your Tunga profile is important. Based on your profile, you will receive email notifications about interesting opportunities. You can also view all opportunities on our private Slack or work.tunga.io (if you are in the Achievers pool).
After expressing interest in a role, you should expect feedback from the Talent team within a few days. However, once we introduce you to a client, we have limited influence on the decision-making process. Some clients need more time to decide whether or not to hire someone. We will keep you updated throughout the process.
Once admitted to Tunga, there are no minimum job application requirements. However, specific requirements and necessary tests may be included in each opportunity, i.e., they are tailored to each client’s needs.
The biggest impact you can make yourself is: 1) Having an updated and complete profile with a good picture, 2) Completing all tests to showcase your skills, 3) Being an active member of the community on Slack and using our Academy and other events to broaden your knowledge.
Some developers get jobs within their first month, but it might take longer for others. Focusing on what you can control, like ensuring you have a complete and attractive profile while participating in community events, increases your chances of securing an opportunity.
It is important to complete your online profile. Your profile strength will determine which opportunities you receive.
You will receive a confirmation email welcoming you into the community. Then, our talent managers will evaluate your application. If you meet our entry requirement, you will be added to our Achievers pool, but if you do not, you will be added to our Scholars pool.
The Achievers pool in Tunga consists of tech professionals with a minimum of three years of technical experience and a portfolio to match. They gain access to our platforms to create their profiles, take tests to showcase their skills, and apply to our job opportunities. In addition, they gain access to all learning resources and activities within Tunga.
The Scholars pool in Tunga consists of tech professionals who we know from experience have very little chance of being placed with our clients due to missing experience or technical skills but can benefit from our resources. Resources like the Tunga Academy, Tunga Learning Roadmap, and workshops are accessible to the Scholars pool. They do not have access to the Tunga platform and Slack but will receive regular email updates from Tunga about upskilling and their eligibility status for the Achievers pool. Members of the Scholars pool can send an email for a review of their profiles to determine their eligibility for the Achievers pool as soon as they have gained additional experience.

Tunga helps African software engineers who currently reside in Africa navigate and build successful international tech careers. We are on a journey to unleash Africa’s tech talent by connecting them to businesses looking for agile and reliable software developers globally.
Please note that Ugandan and Nigerian residents have priority. However, residents from other African countries are also welcome to apply as paid participants.
All training is offered online and can be done remotely.
We only have a limited number of scholarships available, which will be granted based on some criteria, such as country of residence (Uganda or Nigeria), employment status, and level of experience is key.
The Tech Impact Academy is specifically designed for African software developers. It focuses on providing practical, experienced-based learning opportunities. It also offers mentorship from experienced African software developers, jobs, and internship opportunities with partner companies looking for skilled African developers.
All training sessions are mandatory. However, if you cannot attend a session, please inform the trainer(s). You will need to catch up soon by completing the assignments related to the session. Please note that your attendance rate is a criterion for graduation.
